Ok my guildie just got a permanent ban also a few days ago..anet reported him that the reason was the usage of 3rd party programs.He then sent them an email telling them the truth:he has never downloaded and/or installed any 3rd party stuff.A few hours later he got his account back..

Is anet banning by random since so many innocent people get banned or what's going on here

Viruses didnt interfere with GW and prolly the only pertinent answer in this long thread is this

Well spyware or virus can contain "keylogger" which takes all your keystrikes and sends them to someone who then searches for passwords and other stuff he wants to find from there...that's just one way how they can steal your passwords and identity.

About that banning thing...Anet surely has a lot to do when banning all those bots so it's not a big suprise if someone innocent gets banned now and then. They are only trying to do their job. I think it was just kinda funny when my guildie told how he had been banned and told to be quilty and then azap he got his account back when he just told them that he didn't do all those thing they said he had done.
And yeah i'm happy that i got my account back ^^

There's likely more to it than just that, like they reviewed the "evidence" and realized they were wrong. Would it be funnier if when someone was wrongfully banned and it took them two weeks to do anything about it? Fast response is a good thing.

Well i can say that it didn't feel so funny to be banned for 2weeks...

but anyway offtopic, i just stopped whole gw(got bored because had absolutely nothing more to do), deleted it and gave away all my stuff i have ever had; this time i'm stopping for good =) everyone have fun playing gw but remember that life is more important than gw :P and i'm saying that because i once saw a dude saying "THERE IS NO LIFE OUTSIDE GW YOU NOOB!!" and he was so not joking, he really ment that =D.

here is probably what happened which is the reason i pay for the best anti malware i can get AND USE IT BEFORE I GO ANYPLACE WITH A PASSWORD.

and no i dont visit download sites or other known threat areas.

this was after browsing supposidly legit news sites

i found it automatically deleted when i checked the event log.

Yo I just got banned last night as well for code 045 and they said it was from a bot program. I have never used a bot program in my life and this is really making me frustrated. What all did you have to do to get your account back Rand?

I spent almost 3000 hours between characters started in prophecy, to faction and almost completing Nightfall. I had 5 characters upgraded armor on all and 200k in gold. There was an account playing thorugh the comsast residential gateway that was doing almost everything illegal. Every account associated with that IP gateway address was permanantly banned.

That was the first message they gave me. I called and wrote support. They gave me no reason. I have never did anything to anyone. 90% of my game play was with henchmen very few times with teams.

I asked for a sample, just a small, chat senario of something I had done. The just wont respond. A class action law suit really needs to be brought against them. From the sounds of things a lot of innocent people and games have been taken for a lot of money and a lot of time.

When three accounts play from one LAN in one house other innocent gamers should not be punished for the things one person does. That is not the American way.

All people need to do is use Firefox or Opera, scan their computers with Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware, and make use of SpywareBlaster and they'll be fine.

Lunarsoft.net is a great tech website that assists with removing malware (viruses, trojans, adware, spyware and more). Everyone there is friendly and you always get a quick response.

I'm sorry, but thats a pathetic excuse. If they took into account an excuse like that then whats to stop every bot user from doing the same. If your on a LAN you should pay more attention to what other people are doing, and if they are running bots then contact anet yourself, explain the situation and maybe they'd have done an account based ban instead.

Also, its an international game, what has the "american way" go to do with anything?
